With Christmas just weeks away and shipping delays rampant, there’s never been a better time to shop local when it comes to present buying this Christmas.

Finder.com.au reported last week that the average Aussie will spend at least $374 on gifts this festive season.

With the COVID pandemic still affecting retailers nationwide, spending with small business operators is a great way to support the local community.

Port and South Hedland are home to many retailers who are fully stocked and ready to help you find the perfect pressies for your loved ones.

The Courthouse Gallery’s team shared their best gift ideas.

Melanie Neville said her top pick was the Portside Soaps available for purchase at the gallery.

“I actually make them myself, so I know they’re good. Who doesn’t love a beautiful soap?” she said.

Joo Tan said the Aboriginal art for sale was also a great option.

“The 30X30cm artworks are beautiful and an affordable choice when it comes to buying paintings,” she said.

Valeria Scoponi’s picks were the handbags, saying customers “couldn’t go wrong” with the options they had in stock.

Across the road from the Courthouse Gallery is popular boutique Ginger Fox, which sits inside the Bungalow on Edgar.

Ginger Fox owner Katie Hodgson said the selection of picnic rugs were a popular choice with customers for Christmas presents.

The team at Ginger Fox hand pick every item for sale in the store and also sell gift vouchers for those who’d like to leave the decision making up to the recipient.

“We also have lots of unique jewellery that’s Australian designed and Australian made,” she said.
