BMW pulled from Swan River as freeway crash slows morning commute

A luxury car in the Swan River and a crash on the freeway have livened up Perth’s morning commute for the start of the week.

A white BMW X6 plunged into the water near Mounts Bay Road in the CBD some time before 6.30am

Traffic was blocked on Mounts Bay Road as a crane was called to the remove the car from from the river but normal conditions returned shortly before 7am.

Police are not yet sure of what caused the BMW to plunge in the river but it is understood no one has been injured.

The aquatic incident comes following a crash in Osborne Park at the Hutton Street exit on Mitchell Freeway, with the left northbound lane blocked.

The crash happened at about 6.15am and drivers are told to expect delays.
