My Kitchen Rules: WA contestants Lisa and John Krasenstein relishing chance to put SW produce on display
For Lisa and John Krasenstein, applying for My Kitchen Rules was entirely accidental.
Lisa, a former functions manager from Margaret River, was simply “having a lark” with her accountant son.
“I had three glasses of rose and I cooked a yummy meal, and I was watching MKR,” Lisa said.
“I thought it would be a good idea to apply, so I rang up John.”
But I didn’t realise I submitted the application until I got the call.”
The family team are used to cooking up a storm together, with John admitting his mother is his teacher and rock.
“Mum and I are genuinely friends,” the 29-year-old said.
“I live in Perth. Mum lives down south, but we call each other a lot and we are very close.”
They plan to dish up “good Aussie food” on the show, with an emphasis on South West produce and seafood, considering Lisa’s husband is a fisherman.
John will take the role of head chef, as he puts a more refined spin on Lisa’s home cooking.
“He drives the menus and has the ideas, whereas I have the grounding,” she said.
“We can squabble a bit when it’s stressful, and we don’t keep a tidy kitchen.”
The outgoing duo has no qualms in plating food for big groups on the show.
“If you are around cooking for two, you may as well cook for 20,” Lisa laughed.
“Invite everyone over. We love parties and feeding people.”
My Kitchen Rules returns on Monday on Seven/GWN7 at 7pm.
