Morning commuters risk running late on Thursday as a technical issue on a Perth train line causes major delays.

A train has broken down on the Ellenbrook line in Perth’s east ahead of the peak hour rush.

A Public Transport Authority spokesperson confirmed the delays were caused by an A-series railcar experiencing technical faults.

“The train has since been taken back to the siding at Bayswater Station and services are returning to the normal timetable,” the spokesperson said.

“Transperth apologises for any inconvenience caused to passengers by the delay.”

Transperth has urged travellers to allow extra commuting time and to be aware that delayed trains may not connect with timetabled bus and train services.

More to come.
