Local not-for-profits are invited to pitch “creative event concepts” to help Kalgoorlie-Boulder celebrate New Year’s Eve for the next three years.
The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder is hoping to partner with an organisation which will lead the planning and delivery of the annual community celebration.
Expressions of interest could include ideas for family-friendly activities, local food vendors, live entertainment, markets, experiences for young people or a community countdown.
Funding will be provided across the three-year period, with $65,000 available in the first year, $55,000 in the second, and $45,000 in the third.
It follows the success of the first city-supported New Year’s Eve celebration last year, which drew a crowd of about 7000.
Mayor Glenn Wilson said the city was keen to build on that success.
“I think what last year showed us is that there’s real appetite in this community for a shared New Year’s Eve event where people can come together safely and celebrate locally,” he said.
“For a long time, we’ve heard from residents that they wanted something more family-friendly and community-focused on New Year’s Eve, and last year was a really positive first step in responding to that.”
The 2025 New Year’s Eve event was hosted by Kalgoorlie-Boulder Fair Society, in partnership with the city, and put on a free night of fun.
It took place at Kalgoorlie-Boulder Racing Club and featured food vendors, a bar, fireworks and Kiss tribute band Strutt’r, who drew attendees to the dance floor.
“There was a strong turnout, a great atmosphere, and really positive feedback from the community. Now we want to see that idea continue to grow and evolve,” said Mr Wilson.
“This three-year opportunity is about building on that foundation, giving a local organisation the chance to continue shaping the event, making it something the community can look forward to every year.”
Expressions of interest close at 5pm on August 3.
