Cowaramup Bay Boardriders Club will hold its annual film fundraiser at Margaret River Cultural Centre next Friday.

Freesurfer Dion Agius’ film The Smiling Bag will be the main event after a series of 15 short films made by the young club members.

The idea came about last year when Agius met 15-year-old Sam Cawood at Lefties and asked him where the best surf could be found.

Cawood said the pair got talking and Agius gave him a surfboard and permission for the Gracetown club to use the film.

“I got a board, so that’s pretty good,” Cawood said.

Club vice-president Lucas Englert said there would be a burger bar, a sausage sizzle, a raffle and prizes, with funds to go to club costs. Tickets are $19 for adults and $13 for children.
