Leeuwin Estate founder Denis Horgan was named a life member of the Australian wine industry at a ceremony in Adelaide last week.

Mr Horgan, wine critic James Halliday, and Robert Oatley Vineyards chairman Chris Hancock were awarded for their contributions to Australian wine.

In a statement, Winemakers Federation of Australia president Sandy Clark said the awards recognised “outstanding leadership and contribution to the nation’s wine industry over and above an individual’s career achievements”.

Mr Horgan and wife Tricia have been awarded some of the industry’s highest honours for wine and tourism, as well as inclusion in the Order of Australia for their work.
