Margaret River Region Open Studios has marked a major milestone ahead of its September opening, becoming the biggest regional art event in Australia by welcoming a further 43 artists to the fold. Over 16 days, art lovers will be welcomed to the usually private world of artists from Anniebrook to Witchcliffe, Boalia to Eagle Bay, getting a glimpse of the inspirations behind the artists. A record 167 artists will open their studio doors for the ninth annual Open Studios — a record number for the event according to chair Jim Davies. “We’ve been bowled over by the number of artist registrations this year,” he said. “We thought there might be some uncertainty due to COVID but I suspect the desire to share beauty and creation is more important than ever before to our artists and community. “Our event has grown year-on-year and the word-of-mouth spreads through the artistic community. “An astonishing 43 artists will make their Open Studios debut in September, which is another record broken, and 16 artists will have participated in all nine events providing a rich and diverse offering for our visitors.” Between September 10 to 25, the region will be awash with a sea of Open Studios signs welcoming an insight into the world of art in all its forms. Event guides will start being distributed in July ahead of the event and more information on Margaret River Region Open Studios is online at www.mrropenstudios.com.au.
