The Cowaramup Bullshed has welcomed a State Government grant of $30,694 to pay for a storage shelter and security fence.

Men’s Shed president Keven Hopkins said last week he would build an 8m lean-to and concrete pad behind the shed to shelter donated building materials.

“The security fence is to stop the b......s from pinching it,” he said.

Mr Hopkins said the new shelter would complete the shed, which had grown to 68 men and 34 women in four years. “It’ll be a big job, but it’s there,” he said.

South West MLC Barry House helped secure the funds and thanked the group for its work.

“I think it’s a fair investment in the community, (a) facility like this which helps so many people,” he said.

“You’ve come a long way in a short time and you’ve got a fantastic future ahead of you.”

Bullshed secretary Kevan Gray said more than half of the shed was self-funded and the grant money would be well spent.
