Cowaramup residents have started a community art group for residents to meet and share their skills.

The group meets at the Golden Jersey cottage once a month, where more experienced artists can help newer artists learn from each other and have fun.

Organiser Di Hill said she came up with the idea to get like-minded people together to share ideas over tea and biscuits without having to travel to Margaret River.

“Whatever (medium) people work in, they bring it along, (and) we just share the skills we’ve got,” she said.

“Anyone’s welcome.”

Cowaramup resident Claire Hubbard said the sessions were a good chance to learn from other artists in a place free from distractions.

“It’s just nice having another pair of eyes when you’re drawing or painting,” she said.

The group will meet next on July 11. For more information, call Hill on 0429 052 451.
