The McQueens bring soul funk to festival

Eclectic Singapore band The Steve McQueens have joined the line-up for this year’s Jazz by the Bay festival.
The outfit will bring their “neo-vintage soul-funk” to the region at the start of June — an appearance made possible by a relationship established with the Melbourne International Jazz Festival, held on the same weekend.
Following a Melbourne performance, The band will head straight to the South West for a Sunday night performance on June 4.
The Steve McQueens recently released their latest record, Seamonster, produced at London’s Livingston Studios, and have previously played at festivals including Japan’s Summersonic, Indonesia’s Java Jazz, Singapore’s Singjazz, and London’s O2 Indigo.
Also confirmed for this year’s Jazz by the Bay are Tasmanian outfit Nadira and Friends.
Nadira has performed at Tasmanian jazz festivals and held sold-out gigs at Devonport Jazz Fest in 2016, and will be accompanied by local jazz band Jazztrix.
More than 200 individual performers are expected to appear across the weekend in June.
