WA and Perth Easter weather: Severe thunderstorm for South East Coastal, metro area set for nice conditions

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for parts of WA, with those heading south for Easter told to expect heavy rainfall which could lead to flash flooding.

The Bureau of Meteorology issued the warning for the South East Coastal area near Esperance just after 8am on Friday.

“Thunderstorms persist this morning across parts of southern WA, supported by an upper trough, with some of these delivering heavy rainfall,” the BoM said.

“Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours.”

Emergency WA has urged those in the area to “act now and stay safe” by packing away, securing or tying down outdoor furniture and preparing an emergency kit with a radio that runs off batteries.

For the Perth metro area, conditions are looking far better, with temperatures to hit a maximum of 29C.

The rest of the Easter long weekend is also expected to deliver beautiful weather for Perth residents, with Saturday’s temperature reaching 26C, Sunday’s 24C and Monday hitting a top of 26C.

The sun will be out over Perth for most of the weekend, however there is still a low chance of rain on Sunday.
