Howard Park Wines is enticing wine lovers out of winter hibernation with the return of its annual Fondue by the Fire cellar door event in Margaret River.

Now in its sixth year, Fondue by the Fire features all the event’s traditional winter favourites including a melted cheese feast, accompanied by a selection of award-winning Howard Park wines all set to be enjoyed by a roaring fire.

Part of the region’s Cabin Fever winter festivities, the cosy local-favourite event will take place on July 23 and 24, with guests to be treated to fondue from Dunsborough’s Lady Lola, known for their cheeses, freshly sliced premium meats and sustainably sourced produce.

Involved for the first time, a spokesperson for Lady Lola said it’s a great opportunity to promote local produce.

“We are really excited to be involved, they actually approached us about it,” she said.

“Typically they go through a cheese supplier, but we are so glad to be part of a local line-up this year and hope it’s the start of a very good relationship with Howard Park for years to come.”

The free event comes as part of Margaret River’s annual winter food festival, Cabin Fever, running from July 15-25 and boasting a unique line-up of foodie, wine and music events.

Howard Park wine club manager David Stredwick said it is a highlight on the winery’s annual calendar.

“This is the perfect opportunity to shake off the mid-winter blues with old friends and new inside our beautiful cellar door,” he said.

“Our annual Fondue by the Fire event has become a staple on our events calendar and is an ideal setting to cosy up with delicious comfort food, great company, warming wines and a roaring fire.”
