Voting enrolment closes on Monday at 8pm

The deadline to make your voice heard at the upcoming Federal election is just hours away, as the Australian Electoral Commission voting enrolment closes at 8pm local time on Monday, April 18. All Australian citizens aged 18 years or older are required to vote in the Federal election. Anyone who has recently turned 18, moved house, or is unsure at what address they are currently enrolled has until 8pm on Monday to enrol or update their details. People who did not enrol or vote in past Federal elections will not be penalised now when they enrol for this one. Applications can be made online by providing details from an Australian driver’s licence, a passport, or by having someone who is currently enrolled confirm your identity. Proof-of-age cards are not accepted by the AEC. Electoral roll details can also be checked online, however, for privacy reasons, electoral enrolment will only be confirmed if the details entered are an exact match to the details on the electoral roll.
