Augusta-Margaret River cemented a place in the finals by comfortably defeating Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault by 37 points at Brunswick Oval on Sunday.

The Lions started well, kicking the first three goals before the Hawks had scored, but fell away quickly to lose 12.10 (82) to 6.9 (45).

Zac Piper and Ty Anderson were lively early in the game and the Lions’ forward pressure put the Hawks to the test.

The Hawks settled later in the term, but they were wasteful up forward and were down at the first break.

The intensity of the match remained high into the second term, as both teams were working hard and it took 15 minutes for a goal to be scored.

This was through Hawk Jacob Oakes and was quickly followed by majors to Steve Grantis and James Price.

Steven Payne and Rhys Gelmi were having a great battle on their wing, with both players having an influence for their respective sides.

The Hawks came out after the main break with confidence and their midfield, led by Grantis and Jacob Payne, was getting on top.

Three more goals to the Hawks saw the lead get out to 28 points and the Lions were soon on the back foot.

The home side was playing without confidence, often fumbling and turning the ball over under the Hawks’ intense pressure.

The Lions pressed hard early in the final term, but their disposal let them down.

On the other hand the Hawks were more precise by foot, spreading well and finding space too easily, especially in their forward line.

They kicked another three goals in a row and the game was over.

Kale Triplett kicked a consolation goal for the Lions, but Jacob Payne booted a goal on the siren to cap off a great win.
