Margaret River DJ Boston Switch is going back to his roots, as he is heading back to the South West for the second time this year. For the first time Boston Switch otherwise known as Blake McDonald, is co-headlining with Gold Coast duo Bread Gang. The tour includes four shows in Busselton, Geraldton, Margaret River and Mandurah. McDonald said he wanted to do another regional tour, as there were not many new artists coming to the regions when he was growing up. “I noticed when I grew up in Margaret River there were so many different artists going to Perth and everything, but not many coming to the regions,” he said. “I just remember that it was so nice and exciting when someone new decided to come and play a gig, it’s just great to have something different. “So even for myself touring with the Bread Gang it’s something different and it’s going to be so much fun, we aren’t just throwing the same party every night and we have some new music we’ll be playing and it’s just going to be very exciting.” McDonald said he hoped the tour would resonate with the regional crowd. “There is something really fun about going to these kind of small towns where I started out and it feels so good to still get such good turnouts there,” he said. “It’s so interesting to see the different demographics come through, people that were there when I started and people who just recently turned 18, it’s just nice that we still get such good reception and they support the event.” McDonald traditionally makes his own music, but has been switching it up and recording covers of well-known songs and experimenting with different styles. “I’m really having fun with drum and bass at the moment.” he said. “The first cover I have coming out is Get Ur Freak On by Missy Elliott, and I got this amazing rapper from the States to hop on the song and it’s been really fun to collaborate.” Boston Switch, Bread Gang and special guest Stabbs will be performing at Hally’s in Busselton on October 27, The Geraldton Hotel on October 28, Settlers Tavern in Margaret River on November 3 and Top Floor, Mandurah on October 4.
