MNA: Champs defeat Independents in their first game of season

The Champs were able to defeat the Independents in the second round of the Manjimup Netball Association’s senior competition by a four-point margin. The two teams went head-to-head at the Manjimup Indoor Sports Pavilion on Monday night, with Champs playing their first game of the 2024 season, while Independents were hoping to pick themselves up after suffering a four-point loss to Aztecs last week. The Champs and Independents went back and forth with the lead in the first half but the Champs were able to take a strong lead, entering the main break with a seven-point lead over Independents 31-24. In the second half, both again played strong as Champs hoped to extend their lead. There were near-misses and several tumbles from both teams making some close calls with their shots, but the Champs were able to maintain their lead to dominate the match. By the time the final siren rang out, the Champs were able to hold on to win with a four-point lead over the Independents, winning with a full-time score of 56-52. In the other matches, Cosmos beat Astrix 29-21, Comets defeated Aztecs 46-19, Saints beat Brace Yourself 59-27 and Sirens defeated Magpies 43-7.
