Mr Linfield said Melo Velo encouraged bike riding all year round.

“The benefits to riding a bike I think are endless, it’s a great way to get out in the community and meet people,” he said.

“The mountain biking trails we have, whether it’s in Bunbury, the new trails in Collie, Ferguson Valley it really is fantastic, and we have a great cycling community.”

Maximum Results exercise physiologist Allan Gell said bike riding was one of the most beneficial activities because people of any age could get involved.

Mr Gell said.

Mr Gell said the recommended daily exercise amount of 30 minutes every day was easily achieved with bike riding.

“People can manage their own intensity which means you can make it as hard or as light as you need,” he said.
