In the face of less-than-ideal outings during AFLW round two, the South West’s AFLW stars have continued to show promise on the field. Although Fremantle’s 2022 AFLW campaign has taken another hit after being kept to their lowest ever score, Manjimup’s Dana East was a modest contributor in difficult conditions at Fremantle Oval on Saturday. East featured in Fremantle’s shock 3.9 (27) to 0.1 (1) loss to Geelong, where she managed eight disposals, a mark and six tackles for the match. Meanwhile, Margaret River’s Ella Roberts and former Carey Park player Beth Schilling featured in West Coast’s first loss of the 2022 AFLW season, going down to Gold Coast 7.5 (47) to 2.2 (14) at Metricon Stadium on Sunday. Although Schilling remained relatively quiet with just three disposals and two marks, she certainly helped put the pressure on the Suns with five tackles. Roberts was a modest contributor across the midfield, managing nine disposals, four marks and three tackles.
