South West guns produce in round 7 WAFL action

East Perth may have gone down to West Perth in their WA Day derby at the weekend to make it five straight losses in the match up, but the Royals’ South West products gave fans from the region something to smile about. South West products Stanley Wright, Harley Sparks, Damon Greaves, Scott Jones, Kade Dittmar and Jacob Msando all stood up against the Falcons, but East Perth fell short, losing 9.8 (62) to 7.6 (48). Former Dunsborough junior Wright was the best of the group, amassing 29 disposals and four inside 50s, while Deanmill product Harley Sparks contributed with 21 possessions. Former Hawthorn and Busselton player Damon Greaves managed 15 touches, while fellow ex-Magpie Jacob Msando and Augusta-Margaret River’s Kade Dittmar had 14 each. Meanwhile, big man Scott Jones continued his ruck dominance with 37 hit outs — the most of anyone on the ground. Elsewhere, the uber-productive Bailey Rogers backed up his 36 touches from last week with a 27 disposal and two goal performance in Claremont’s 34-point win over Perth. The Bunbury-born 2021 Sandover Medal winner was among those players heartbroken to be overlooked in last Wednesday night’s AFL mid-season draft, alongside Donnybrook’s former Docker Tobe Watson. Watson had 21 disposals at the weekend as his Swan Districts side beat West Coast by 20 points. Elsewhere, 2021 Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault best and fairest Ty Anderson had 12 possessions for Peel Thunder as they beat Subiaco by a goal.
