Perth traffic: Commuters face traffic nightmare as several crashes shut lanes across Perth roads

Monday morning commuters are facing bumper-to-bumper traffic after a slew of crashes on major Perth roads.

A crash on Mitchell Freeway heading north just after Ocean Reef Road in Heathridge has reduced the major thoroughfare to a single lane.

Traffic heading north through the area is heavy in the far right lane, with motorists urged to drive carefully in the area.

An ambulance is at the scene. Injuries are unknown at this stage.

The freeway collision was just one of several incidents causing traffic chaos on Monday.

A crash on Great Eastern Highway heading west in Darlington has shut down the left lane.

Police are on the scene and drivers are warned of heavy traffic.

Another crash has caused traffic delays in Warwick where multiple lanes have been blocked.

The crash between two cars unfolded on Warwick Road heading west on the Mitchell Freeway overpass at about 7.30am.

Traffic is slow in the area and motorists are urged to drive with caution.

Traffic on Leach Highway heading west at North Lake Road in Winthrop has been disrupted by a crash too.

The left lane is blocked and traffic is backed up on approach.

Earlier on Monday, police and ambulance services were called to Kwinana Freeway southbound near Roe Highway shortly after 6am after a rubbish truck was involved in a crash.

The freeway was reduced to a single lane for three hours as emergency crews worked to clear the carnage.

The debris has since been cleared and lanes were reopened just before 9am, however Main Roads warns drivers that traffic is heavy and slow moving in the area.
