Serious car rollover forces parts of the Mitchell Freeway to close

Parts of the Mitchell Freeway have been forced to closed by a serious car crash, causing peak hour traffic chaos.

Motorist have been warned they are facing heavy congestion in Perth’s northern suburbs, with the Freeway’s northbound lanes closed from Hepburn Avenue to Whitfords Avenue in Padbury.

Police received reports of two cars colliding about 2:20pm on Thursday afternoon.

It is understood two cars have rolled, including a work ute and red sedan.

There is heavy traffic congestion backed up to Karrinyup Road.

St John Ambulance and the Department of Fire and Emergency Services are on the scene.

The extent of injuries to motorists involved in the crash is unknown at this stage.
