Arson squad investigate suspicious units fire in Carlisle

The WA Police arson squad is investigating a fire that ripped through two residential units in Carlisle this morning, causing more than $400,000 of damage.

A person is assisting officers with their investigation into the blaze on Star Street, which police have declared suspicious.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services responded to multiple triple-0 callers reporting the out-of-control fire from 6.50am this morning.

It took firefighters just under an hour to bring the flames under control, and another half an hour after that to extinguish the fire.

One of the units suffered extensive damage — significantly more than its neighbour.

Police arson squad officers were called to the scene this morning and are investigating.

The West Australian was told one person is currently assisting with police inquiries but that no charges have been laid.

St John Ambulance was also called to the incident, however, no one suffered any serious injury.

It is understood the Department of Housing attended as well.
