A man has faced court charged with the alleged murder of a man that was found dead in a “horrific” and “confronting” scene at an Eaton home on Thursday night.

Police were called to the home on Cleveland Bay Avenue about 8.20pm, where they discovered a 43-year-old Carey Park man was dead with “significant injuries”.

South West District Superintendent Geoff Stewart on Friday said a number of vehicles were sent to the home after police received multiple calls.

“When police arrived, they located a deceased male in the street and a short distance away, a male person was taken into custody and that person is currently with us in this complex assisting us with enquiries,” he said.

While not going into details of the injuries, Supt. Stewart said they were “significant,” and items had been seized.

“It was a very confronting situation not only for attending police but to the people that would have come out and seen it,” he said.

“There were other emergency services there as well – but certainly the neighbours and so forth would have seen something quite horrific.”

Damian Kyle Beckerleg today appeared in Bunbury Magistrates Court via audio link from custody facing one count of murder.

The 42-year-old from Eaton was remanded in custody to reappear in Stirling Gardens on Wednesday.
