Gracetown rescue: Man in his 70s dies near South Point after medical incident on Friday

A man has died after a tragic incident near a South West beach earlier on Friday. Paramedics, police and RAC rescue crews raced to the the scene of the “medical incident” near South Point in Gracetown about 9.50am. It’s understood the medical emergency involved a man in his 70s who had suffered a serious medical episode, possibly a cardiac arrest. It’s understood he may have been near some rocks at the time of the incident. Volunteer firefighters and State Emergency Service volunteers were also sent to the scene to help. But in a statement released on Friday afternoon police said the man had died. The man’s death is being treated as non-suspicious. A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
