Man in 60s in critical condition after Greenwood altercation, with another man in custody

Detectives are continuing their probe into a suspected domestic violence knife attack as a father clings to his life in hospital following a fight with a young man believed to be his step-son. Police were called to reports of a serious disturbance at a home on Cedarwood Circle in Greenwood about 10.30pm on Monday before a man in his 60s was found seriously injured. WA Police commissioner Col Blanch said a man in his 20s — believed to be the alleged victim’s step son — was being interviewed by police over the incident. No charges have been laid. “We think they are very serious injuries, edged weapon injuries, particularly one to his hand and his head,” Mr Blanch said. “There may be other injuries at this stage, but more will be known later.” Mr Blanch described the incident as a “family domestic violence matter”. A St John WA ambulance was called to the home before the injured man was taken to hospital. He is in a critical but stable condition on Tuesday morning. The man in his 20s remains in police custody. The home is now taped off, with homicide detectives commencing an investigation into the circumstances of the incident.
