Perth and WA Easter weather: Metro, South West in for mild weekend as thunderstorm lashes Gascoyne, Goldfields

Perth is set for a delightfully mild Easter as temperatures hover around the mid-twenties across the long weekend, with slightly warmer conditions expected for the South West.
Good Friday will see a mostly sunny 28C maximum in Perth, after dipping to an overnight minimum of a chilly 17C.
A small amount of rain is predicted for a partly cloudy Easter Saturday, between 0 and 1mm, with a maximum temperature of 24C after an overnight low of 17C.
Easter Sunday will not bring much change from the day before, delivering a 15C overnight minimum and 24C maximum, with a low chance of 1mm of rain.
Monday’s public holiday will continue the trend of steady mild temperatures, with a partly cloudy 25C maximum after a 15C overnight low, with no rain expected.
Marginally warmer temperatures are expected for the South West as thousands of Perth city-dwellers descend on the long weekend hotspot.
Dunsborough will see a sunny 27C maximum on Good Friday, after a chilly 14C overnight minimum.
Easter Saturday will bring a partly cloudy 25C, and Easter Sunday will reach a slightly cooler 24C, with a low chance of 1mm of rain.
The sun will have well and truly gone by Monday as the city slickers return home, with a cloudy 23C maximum expected.
The mild conditions in the South West of the State are a far cry from those further north, as the Bureau of Meteorology issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of the Goldfields and Gascoyne which may lead to flash flooding.

The towns of Laverton and Kambalda may be affected by the storm.
The alert warned a “moist and unstable” airmass will bring the wild weather conditions on Thursday afternoon, according to BOM meteorologist Sarah Scully.
“Those unstable conditions are continuing to bring showers and storms across large parts of the southern parts of the state,” Ms Scully said.
“(They) are most likely through inland areas where severe thunderstorms are possible to bring heavy rainfall, damaging winds, or even some large hail.”
Updates are available on the BOM warning and alerts page.
