Women’s Rubik’s Cube world record set by six-year-old Lian Yunzhi at World Cube Association competition

A six-year-old girl from China has broken the women’s world record for solving a Rubik’s Cube at a World Cube Association certified competition in Guangzhou, China.

Lian Yunzhi, from Sichuan province in China’s south-west, set an average speed of 4.27 seconds on September 13 during the three day competition.

The incredible time meant little Yunzhi was the first female cuber in the world to have a completion average under 4.5 seconds.

The young cuber is reported to have mastered 1300 Rubik’s Cube solving algorithms from a rigorous training regime in order to achieve the impressive time.

Yunzhi’s parents have encouraged her success by hiring top professional coaches to train her in Shanghai, and spending up to three hours a day training with her in the last year.

The overall record for fastest single Rubik’s Cube solve is also held by a youngster, nine-year-old Teodor Zajder from Poland.

His record of 2.76 seconds on the same size cube was set in February.
