Rivals clubs could swoop on Bobby Hill as a delisted free agent with a deal reportedly agreed on between Collingwood and the 2023 Norm Smith medallist to depart the Magpies.

Hill’s exit is set to be formalised in the coming days, with AFL.com.au reporting both parties have reached a settlement over his contract, which still had four years to run at a reported $750,000 a season.

It’s understood Hill will depart the club as a delisted free agent, opening the door for him to join a third AFL club. He previously spent four seasons at Greater Western Sydney before joining the Pies.

The 26-year-old, who was named best on ground in the club’s 2023 premiership, has not played a game this year.

Magpies coach Craig McRae last week said Hill would always be welcome at the club, despite his time in black and white coming to an end.

“There is an emotion attached to it, there is, absolutely. There’s the playing part and the high performance of what he’s capable of doing for our team and for our supporter base, and then there’s the other personal part,” McRae said.

“You know he is a father; I think of that young man with three kids. You want the best for them, for all our players to come into our environment and be good humans and be a good father and a good husband; those things that we’re trying to instil. But environment changed and shifted, but lots of love and care for Bobby.

“He’s a premiership player and Norm Smith Medallist and will forever be welcomed inside the four walls for the future. We want to make sure that we love this guy for the rest of our lives.”

Hill is yet to comment publicly on his departure from Collingwood.
