Four WA amateurs have been selected to represent Australia at the World Amateur Teams Championship in Paris in August.

Joondalup’s Connor McKinney, Royal Fremantle’s Hayden Hopewell and Sydney’s Harrison Crowe will play for the Eisenhower Trophy on August 31 at Le Golf National, venue of the 2018 Ryder Cup.

The women’s team will compete for the Espirito Santo Trophy a week earlier at Le Golf de Saint-Nom-la-Bretèche, with Mount Lawley star Kirsten Rudgeley and Gosnells’ Maddy Hinson-Tolchard joined by NSW’s Kelsey Bennett.

Hinson-Tolchard is currently playing college golf for Oklahoma State in the US while Rudgeley spent last week at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship in Maryland with Karrie Webb as part of her scholarship program.

Webb and Ritchie Smith, Perth-based coach of world No.2 Minjee Lee, Min Woo Lee and Hannah Green, will captain the teams.

McKinney, the Australian Amateur champion, won the St Andrews Links Trophy in June while 2020 WA Open Hopewell narrowly missed out qualifying for the British Open at Prince’s Golf Club in Kent on Tuesday, falling one stroke shy of making a play-off for the final spot.
