The partner of West Coast Eagles premiership hero Mark Hutchings has tragically died just days after giving birth to the couple’s first child.
Hutchings took to social media on Thursday evening to announce the horrific news of his partner Hannah’s death, two days after the birth of their daughter Sofia.
“It is with deep sadness that I share the sudden loss of my beautiful partner, Hannah ❤️💔,” Hutchings said.
“Her dream was to become a Mum, so it’s been incredibly difficult to take.
“Sofia and I love you and will miss you very much Hannah ❤️💔.”
It is believed the couple had been together since 2022.
Hutchings’ followers flooded to the comments to offer their condolences, including several of his former West Coast Eagles teammates.
“❤️ thinking of you mate. Sending all our love your way,” Mark LeCras said.
“😢 ❤️ You’ll be an amazing Dad!!” Brad Sheppard said.
“Love you Hutchy, always here for you,” Jack Darling said.
“Been thinking of you everyday Hutch, no words will ever be enough. Praying for you and your beautiful Sofia,” Darling’s wife Courtney said.
“I’m so sorry, and sending so much love to you and Sofia, Hutch. You’ve been in our thoughts,” Lily Cole, wife of Eagles player Tom Cole, wrote.
Jack Redden, Bailey WIlliams, Jamie Cripps, Harry Edwards, and Jack Petruccelle also commented heart emojis on the post.
Hutchings was selected by the West Coast Eagles in the 2012 National Draft at pick 60.
He played 120 games and had a starring role in the club’s premiership win in 2018. He retired in 2021.
