An Australian comedian has come under fire over a social media post appearing to depict the Socceroos arriving to Australia in a boat while being chased by Border Force, as the Aussie team was eliminated from the World Cup.

Alex ‘Shooter’ Williamson posted the AI-generated image to his Instagram account on Friday showing a group of soccer players landing ashore in a rusty boat driven by the Australian comedian.

A group of supporters wearing the distinctive green and gold appears next to the boat, some of whom are holding a banner saying “welcome our future Socceroos”.

A Border Force vessel is depicted in the background of the post, appearing to chase the ‘Socceroos’ boat.

The post is captioned: “Smuggling next gen of Socceroos. . .on a shanty boat.”

Comments flooded the Instagram post, slamming Williamson for appearing to joke about the backgrounds of the real-life Socceroos.

“Disgraceful. Shame on you,” one comment said.

“This isn’t it,” another said.

“They all look 100% Aussie to me 🫡,” one comment said.

Some took aim at the fact the image was AI-generated.

“Get off ChatGPT. . .This isn’t funny,” one person said.

“AI generated slop,” another said.

“It shows your true colours,” another said.

The Socceroos tragically crashed out of the World Cup earlier on Saturday Australian time, losing to Egypt during a tense penalty shootout.

Williamson has already been slammed on social media this year after he ‘joked’ about the death of five-year-old girl Kumanjayi Little Baby in a social media video.

The video — which has since been deleted — showed Williamson pretending to have a phone call with Kumanjayi Little Baby’s alleged murderer Jefferson Lewis

“Somebody was like, hey, yo, you just get out of prison, did you, brother?” Williamson said.

“Yeah, yeah I’ve seen your mugshot, you’re looking good. You’re looking well.”

According to the Daily Mail, Williamson then pretends to ‘ask’ Lewis to reside with him and his daughter, and “made a reference to petrol sniffing”.
