My NT planning on Travel Auctions

Short breaks suit many of our readers, and as autumn kicks in (eventually), I start to look east to the Red Centre.

Using travelauctions.com.au, I’ve put together a nice little couplet, after flying from Perth to Alice Springs, which takes about two hours, 30 minutes with Qantas or Air North.

It is a three-night stay in Alice, and dramatic one-night trip down to Uluru.

With Travel Auctions you simply put in a bid (what you think the item is worth to you), and see if you win. Bidding for the Uluru trip ends on March 13, 2026.

STAY IN ALICE

Travel Auctions has three nights at Desert Palms Alice Springs, in a double villa. Desert Palms is a nice little oasis minutes from the town centre, with its accommodation set among palm trees and gardens. I’ve stayed there several times. It is a good base. Three nights would normally be $630 — but just place a bid before bidding ends on April 26, 2026.

OFF TO ULURU

Then I would couple that with Emu Run Experience — Uluru Overnight Escape.

This is a return trip from Alice Springs to Uluru on Mondays and Fridays, from May to September 2026.

Guests are picked up from their accommodation in Alice at 6.45am and driven through the Outback to Ayers Rock Resort at Yulara. They visit Uluru National Park sites and learn about ancient cultural practices, and have time for short walks around the base of Uluru and to visit the Aboriginal Cultural Centre.

After drinks and a barbecue with an Uluru sunset, they are taken to the Outback Pioneer Hotel for the overnight stay.

Day two begins with a sunrise viewing, tea and coffee, then a return to the hotel for breakfast. After breakfast, the tour sets off to Kata Tjuta, for a walk through Walpa Gorge before returning to Alice Springs.

Travel is with a professional and accredited tour guide.

The tour is usually $1998 per person but place your bid by March 13, 2026 (code ERE0226ON).
