Formerly the Kimberley Sands Hotel, Pinctada Hotel Broome has unveiled a major refresh inspired by the region’s pearling history, swapping generic resort styling for something more distinctly Kimberley.

The name itself is a nod to the Pinctada maxima — the shell that produces Australia’s prized South Sea pearls that helped shape Broome into the town it is today.

Just minutes from Cable Beach, the boutique retreat has updated its rooms, suites and shared spaces with earthy tones, natural textures and a laid-back tropical feel, encouraging guests to slow down and stay awhile.

The culinary offering has also had a makeover. The hotel’s restaurant and bar now lean Mediterranean, with guests able to enjoy cocktails and share plates in an alfresco setting overlooking the pool.
